The research efforts in our laboratory are synchronized with the needs of world's mineral and material industries. We have been continuously seeking ways of improving existing mineral processing technologies and controlling them efficiently. Our researches are directed towards seeking fundamental knowledge of the interfacial phenomena in solid-liquid-gas system. These knowledge are utilized to fully understand and improve the existing technologies of froth flotation, agglomeration in liquid etc. Continuing efforts are also being made to control flotation and possibly other processes by using a Fuzzy logic based control system.
In addition to the above research field, we are studying advanced mineral processing technology with special emphasis on low emission and resources recycling, which are highly required for sustainable development of the present century modern society. The technology is applied to other fields as well such as waste utilization, waste treatment and environmental remediation. Biological methods namely mineral bioprocessing, bio-hydrometallurgy and bioremediation are also important topics in our laboratory. Hybrid process combined with physical, chemical and biological technology is now developing for the utilization of minerals and the solid waste.
